The WALTER-TITEX 5058683 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. It is manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating that provides basic lubricity and corrosion resistance during cutting. The bit measures 2.2 mm in diameter (0.0866 inches) with an overall length of 2-3/32 inches and a flute length of 1-1/16 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web construction reduce thrust force at entry and improve chip evacuation. Two spiral flutes in a right-hand cut configuration eject chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and other trade professionals rely on drill bits like this for precise, repeatable hole sizing in metal components.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces in both blind-hole and stack-drilling applications. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks used in handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. With a flute-to-diameter ratio of 8xD and a maximum drilling depth of 0.906 inches (23.00 mm), this bit handles moderate-depth holes typical in trade fabrication, mechanical assembly, and field service work. It conforms to ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN standards, making it appropriate for both domestic and international job specifications.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock drill bit for trade and industrial use in cast iron and steel. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks. Diameter tolerance is h8 per DIN/ISO specification. Suitable for work within the 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm drill bit size range (0.0500 to 0.1000 inches decimal).
Install this bit in a properly sized 3-jaw chuck and tighten securely with a chuck key before drilling. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before operation. Select appropriate drill speed (RPM) based on workpiece material and bit diameter following standard machining feeds-and-speeds tables. Do not apply excessive side load, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage under lateral force.
