The WALTER-TITEX 5058668 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with an oxide coating, it measures 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch) in diameter with an overall length of 4-9/32 inches. The bit features a standard 118-degree drill point angle, a web-thinned tapered web configuration, and a regular spiral flute geometry optimized for chip evacuation. It is intended for production and maintenance drilling tasks where consistent hole quality and tool life are required in ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for blind hole drilling and stack drilling applications in residential, commercial, and industrial maintenance environments. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters. The flute-to-diameter ratio of 8xD supports drilling to a maximum depth of 2.244 inches, making it appropriate for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes in cast iron and steel workpieces. ANSI and ISO standards compliance supports consistent dimensional accuracy across production runs.
Designed for drilling cast iron and steel workpieces; compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 17/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to ANSI, ISO, BS, and DIN specification designations for jobber-length drill bits in the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch diameter range.
This bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals using standard drill presses, hand drills, or CNC drilling equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key removal prior to spindle engagement. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for extended production runs in steel, noting that this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed selection based on material and diameter.
