The WALTER-TITEX 5058305 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in cast iron and steel. It carries a wire gauge size of 23, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.154 inches, and is manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide finish that provides light corrosion resistance and reduces friction at the cutting edge. The 118-degree standard point angle suits most common drilling applications without additional point grinding. With a 2-flute spiral design and web-thinned, tapered web configuration, the bit reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation in both blind-hole and stack-drilling scenarios. The overall length is 2-15/16 inches with a flute length of 1-11/16 inches and a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 0.154 inches.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous metals, specifically cast iron and steel workpieces. The Series A1211 designation places it within a high-performance general-purpose product family. It is appropriate for use in manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power drills where a straight-cylindrical shank fits the chuck. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral type support efficient chip clearing in both blind-hole and stack-drilling setups. No coolant-through capability is present, so external cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling deeper holes or working harder steel grades.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.154-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel per supplier specification.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified trade personnel familiar with drilling operations and applicable shop safety standards. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Power down and de-energize or lock out the machine before changing bits. Because this bit does not have coolant-through capability, apply external cutting fluid at the drill point when working with harder steels or when drilling near the maximum depth rating to prevent premature wear.
