The WALTER-TITEX 5057140 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a parabolic flute geometry and a 130-degree split point for fast chip evacuation and accurate hole entry. The straight-cylindrical shank provides secure chuck engagement. Right-hand cutting with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust load and improves centering without a pilot. At 3.5 inches overall length and 1.6875 inches of flute length, this short-length format suits machine shop work where rigidity matters. Licensed tradespeople and machinists working in production environments will find this bit appropriate for precision hole making in demanding materials.
This bit is rated for use in aluminum alloy, aluminum silicon alloy, brass, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel. The parabolic flute profile moves chips efficiently out of the cut, which is especially useful when drilling gummy non-ferrous metals or work-hardening stainless alloys. Series A1148 is a high-performance designation within the WALTER-TITEX catalog, built to BS and DIN specification standards. Typical applications include CNC drilling centers, drill presses, and manual machine setups in job shops, maintenance shops, and metal fabrication facilities.
Designed for use in primary workpiece materials including aluminum alloy, aluminum silicon alloy, brass, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel. Conforms to BS and DIN specification designations. Series A1148, UNSPSC Code 23241635.
Installation and operation of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with cutting tool setup. Power down and de-energize the machine before mounting or removing bits. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened to the tool holder manufacturer specifications before operation. Coolant-through capability is not available on this bit, so apply external cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material when drilling stainless steel or other heat-sensitive alloys.
