The WALTER-TITEX 5057100 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from cobalt vanadium high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit measures 0.052 inches in diameter and corresponds to wire gauge size 55. The 130-degree split point and parabolic flute geometry work together to reduce walking on entry and improve chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. At 32 millimeters overall length with a 9-millimeter flute, this stub-length geometry delivers added rigidity and reduced deflection in short-reach drilling operations. Licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance tradespeople are the primary installers.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, hardened materials, non-ferrous metals, and general steel stock. The screw machine length format — shorter than jobber length — makes it especially effective in tight clearance situations, CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where rigidity matters. The parabolic flute profile supports higher feed rates with improved chip clearing, reducing heat buildup in the cut zone. Series A1148 designation places this bit in a standardized family conforming to DIN and ISO specifications, making it a direct fit where those standards govern tool selection.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting 0.052-inch diameter tooling. Rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, hard material, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel. Conforms to Series A1148 per DIN and ISO standards.
This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance trades using drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held power drills. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling to protect the small-diameter tool from breakage. For stainless steel and hard material applications, use a cutting fluid rated for the workpiece material to manage heat. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 0.200 inches for this stub-length geometry without retracting to clear chips.
