The WALTER 7376525 is a solid carbide turning insert with a CNMG432-MM5 geometry and WMP20S grade designation. It carries a triple-layer CVD coating - TiCN, Al2O3, and TiCN - applied in sequence to extend edge life under thermal and abrasive loads. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape (CNMG style), a neutral hand orientation, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge. It fits standard CNMG-style toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods. Primary workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel, with secondary capability in super-alloys and titanium. This insert is selected by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians running turning, facing, and boring operations.
The 7376525 is suited for medium to heavy material removal on steel and stainless steel in production turning environments. The MM5 chip breaker geometry handles a broad range of depths and feed rates common in general-purpose turning. Super-alloys and titanium are listed as secondary workpiece materials, making this a multi-application insert across both roughing and semi-finishing passes. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO equivalent designation CNMG120408-MM5 WMP20S, allowing direct cross-reference on international tooling sheets.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders accepting clamp or pin insert holding. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (P25), stainless steel (M20), and super-alloys and titanium (S20). Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards; ISO equivalent is CNMG120408-MM5 WMP20S.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians on CNC or manual lathes. Power down the spindle and engage the machine lock before seating or replacing inserts. Secure the insert fully with the appropriate clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer's instructions before resuming cuts. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge repeatability.
