The WALTER 7170613 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation ADMT160608R-D56 WKP35G. It is a parallelogram-shaped, single-sided insert designed for face and shoulder milling operations on steel and cast iron. The insert features a CVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating under the WKP35G manufacturer grade, targeting material grades P35 and K35. With a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a honed cutting edge, and a 15-degree relief angle, it is engineered to produce clean cuts at productive feed rates. Machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert into compatible WALTER milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling applications on steel and cast iron workpieces in production machining environments. It is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip formation is required. The D56 chip breaker geometry is optimized for these material groups. Compatible cutter series include the F2010, F4042, and F4238 WALTER cutter platforms. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-clamping holding method are standard for these tool bodies. It is used in horizontal and vertical machining centers across general manufacturing, automotive, and heavy fabrication settings.
Compatible with WALTER cutter series F2010, F4042, and F4238. Designed for use with ADMT series insert seats accepting the ADMT160608R insert size and screw-clamping retention. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron (K).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the cutter body specification outlined in the WALTER tool body documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for debris or damage before seating a new insert.
