The WALTER 7021267 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPGT-MM4 series, designed for precision metal cutting in demanding CNC and manual lathe applications. Conforming to ISO code TPGT110204-MM4 WSM01, this insert features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry at 7 degrees. The substrate is coated via PVD process with TiAlN, Al2O3, and ZrN layers under the proprietary WSM01 grade designation. Key cutting geometry includes a 0.4 mm corner radius, an 11 mm insert length, and a 6.35 mm inscribed circle. With three available cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Installation uses a screw-holding method.
This insert is optimized for primary use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M and S. Secondary workpiece material compatibility covers steel, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials (ISO codes P, N, H). Applicable material grades are M10, S10, P10, N10, and H20. The MM4 chip breaker geometry supports turning, facing, and boring operations across these material groups. It is suited to high-value aerospace, medical, and industrial component machining where tool life and surface finish in difficult-to-machine alloys are priorities.
Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards. ISO code TPGT110204-MM4 WSM01; industry standard number TPGT2(1.5)1-MM4 WSM01. Compatible with screw-clamp toolholders accepting TPGT-style inserts with a 0.110-inch hole diameter and a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Consult toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm fitment for your specific holder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to toolholder manufacturer specifications - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamp force. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cuts.
