The WALTER 7021257 is a carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. Manufactured to ISO and ANSI standards, this insert carries the ISO designation DCGT11T304-MM4 WSM01 and features a PVD-applied TiAlN, Al2O3, and ZrN multilayer coating for extended tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert geometry provides a positive rake angle and a 7-degree relief angle, reducing cutting forces and heat generation. With a 0.4 mm corner radius and a honed cutting edge style, it suits finishing and medium-roughing operations across a range of workpiece materials. Installation is via screw-holding method, standard on most indexable toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece materials include steel, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material grades M10, S10, P10, N10, and H20. The MM4 chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining passes. This insert is a multi-use tool appropriate for a broad range of lathe and machining center applications in both production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical end users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for DCGT-MM4 series indexable toolholders accepting DCGT11T304 inserts with screw-holding method. Industry standard number DCGT3(2.5)1-MM4 WSM01 per ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw and do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Inspect the toolholder seating pocket for chips or wear before installing a new insert.
