The WALTER 6876621 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCGT-MN2 series, grade WSM01, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning operations. It carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, with an additional Al2O3 and ZrN layer, delivering heat resistance and edge durability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a sharp cutting edge style with a positive rake angle of 25 degrees. With a 0.2 mm corner radius and a 6.35 mm inscribed circle, it is suited for light to medium finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring applications on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups M and S. It also performs on steel, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials in secondary applications. The MN2 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation in these demanding materials. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom operators working on tight-tolerance components in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-inventory insert for CCGT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. ISO code CCGT060202-MN2 WSM01; industry standard number CCGT2(1.5)0.5-MN2 WSM01. Compatible with toolholders accepting a CCGT insert with a 0.110-inch hole diameter and 3/32-inch thickness. Material grade compatibility: M10, S10, P10, N10, H20.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification - do not estimate. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before seating to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
