The WALTER 6435156 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. Manufactured to the CNMA433-RK7 WKK10S industry standard, this insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating - TiCN, Al2O3, and TiCN - that delivers high wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert carries a negative rake angle of -20 degrees and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, making it well suited for the interrupted cuts and abrasive surfaces common in cast iron machining. Licensed HVAC technicians are not the target here - this insert is installed and managed by CNC machinists and toolroom professionals working to ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is built for primary use on cast iron workpieces and secondary use on hard materials. It supports turning, facing, and boring applications in production and job-shop environments. The RK7 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during moderate to heavy stock removal. With four available cutting edges per insert and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, it offers a practical cost-per-edge value in high-volume machining programs. The Tiger-tec Silver series designation indicates the WKK10S proprietary coating grade, optimized for ISO K and H material groups.
Designed for use in CNMA-style toolholders that accept a 0.5 inch inscribed circle insert with clamp or pin retention. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO K); secondary application covers hard materials (ISO H). Multi-use application includes turning, facing, and boring. ISO equivalent designation is CNMA120412-RK7 WKK10S.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret indexed to a safe position before seating or rotating the insert. Verify that the toolholder pocket and clamping hardware are free of chips and debris before securing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and confirm proper insert seating before resuming cutting operations.
