The WALTER 6069405 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ODMT series, designed for indexable face and shoulder milling operations on steel and cast iron. It carries the WKP25S manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN / Al2O3 / TiCN for wear resistance and thermal stability. The octagon insert shape provides 8 cutting edges, and the D57 chip breaker geometry is paired with a positive 10-degree rake angle and a 15-degree relief angle. The honed cutting edge style and 0.0315-inch corner radius make this insert suitable for semi-finish to finish milling cuts in P25 and K25 material grade applications.
This insert is intended for use in milling operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both production shop and job-shop environments. It is compatible with the F2010 and M5004 cutter series as stated by the manufacturer. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible use across a range of milling cutter body configurations. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling passes where consistent edge life on ferrous materials is required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metal fabrication and manufacturing are the primary installers.
Compatible with the F2010 and M5004 cutter series per manufacturer specifications. The ODMT0605ZZN-D57 insert style uses screw-type holding method and fits cutter bodies designed for the ODMT insert form in the 06 size code.
Indexable milling insert installation and indexing should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw; do not over-torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify spindle direction and programmed feed rates against the cutter body documentation before resuming cuts.
