The WALTER 6068709 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ADMT series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert carries the WKP25S grade designation and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiCN, which delivers strong wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. At 0.2420 inches thick with a 0.4250-inch inscribed circle diameter, it is a right-hand, single-sided insert with a positive rake geometry and a honed cutting edge. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert in indexable milling toolholders designed for the ADMT160608 insert pocket format.
This insert is built for milling applications in steel and cast iron, covering ISO material groups P and K (material grades P25 and K25). The D56 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during roughing and semi-finishing passes. The 15-degree relief angle and 10-degree positive rake angle reduce cutting forces, making this insert well suited for both stable and moderately interrupted cuts. It fits production environments running face mills or shoulder mills where consistent insert-to-insert performance and predictable tool life matter most.
Designed for use with WALTER cutter series F2010, F4042, and F4238, which accept the ADMT160608 insert pocket format. The ANSI and ISO code ADMT160608R-D56 WKP25S applies for cross-reference purposes.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating any insert. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque - do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
