The WALTER 5886204 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ADMT series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations on steel and cast iron. It carries the WKP35S manufacturer grade and is coated via CVD process with a TiCN / Al2O3 / TiCN multilayer stack, which delivers wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. The insert measures 0.3750 inches in length and 0.2660 inches in width, with a thickness of 0.1320 inches and a corner radius of 0.0157 inches. It features a positive rake geometry with a 10-degree rake angle and a 15-degree relief angle. Installation and tooling setup is performed by CNC machinists and tool crib technicians in production machining environments.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials of steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K), corresponding to material grades P35 and K35. It is suited for use in production milling operations where consistent edge life and surface finish on ferrous materials are required. The D56 chip breaker geometry controls chip evacuation across a range of depths. Compatible cutter series include F4038 and F4042, as specified by WALTER. The insert is screw-held and designed for single-sided use with a right-hand cutting orientation.
Designed for use in WALTER cutter series F4038 and F4042. The ANSI and ISO designation is ADMT080304R-D56 WKP35S. Insert size code is 080304. Fits toolholders accepting ADMT-series inserts with an inscribed circle of 0.2660 inches and the screw-held retention method.
Installation should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the screw-held insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the cutter body in use.
