The WALTER 5886162 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation ADGT1606PER-D56 WKP35S. It features a parallelogram insert shape with an 85-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry at 10 degrees, designed for productive milling in steel and cast iron applications. The cutting edge is honed for consistent engagement, and the CVD-applied TiCN/Al2O3/TiCN multilayer coating in grade WKP35S provides wear resistance suited to P35 and K35 material grades. Thickness measures 0.2420 inches, inscribed circle is 0.4250 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0630 inches (1/32 inch). This insert is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and is a single-sided, right-hand cutting insert.
Intended for milling operations on steel and cast iron workpieces, this insert fits into compatible WALTER cutter bodies and is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where D56 chip breaker geometry is specified. The insert size code is 1606, and confirmed cutter series compatibility includes F2010, F4042, and F4238. This insert is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling environments on horizontal and vertical machining centers. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.6890 inches.
Compatible with WALTER cutter series F2010, F4042, and F4238. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standard designations ADGT1606PER-D56 WKP35S. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production insert for toolholders accepting ADGT 1606 series inserts.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque - do not over-tighten, as this can fracture carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before installing a new insert.
