The WALTER 5885944 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ADGT series, designed for high-performance metal removal on steel and cast iron workpieces. It carries the WKP35S manufacturer grade and uses a CVD coating process with a TiCN / Al2O3 / TiCN multilayer finish, which improves wear resistance and thermal stability during milling operations. The insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 10 degrees, a 15-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge. Thickness is 0.1320 inches, width is 0.2660 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0472 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC tool setup technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for milling applications in both ferrous and cast iron materials, covering material grades P35 and K35. It is a right-hand, single-sided insert with two cutting edges and a D51 chip breaker geometry, making it appropriate for face milling, shoulder milling, and similar operations where chip control and edge stability on steel and cast iron are priorities. The maximum depth of cut is 0.3750 inches. It is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and is compatible with WALTER cutter series F2010, F4042, and F4238.
Compatible with WALTER cutter series F2010, F4042, and F4238. ANSI and ISO code: ADGT0803PER-D51 WKP35S. Designed for machining steel (material code P) and cast iron (material code K) at material grades P35 and K35.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified seating procedure when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert or damage the pocket. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
