The WALTER 5833929 is a replaceable drill tip engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, this tip is designed for use in modular drill systems where tips are indexed or replaced without discarding the body. It carries a 140-degree point angle, a 0.8125-inch (21.00 mm) cutting diameter, and a single helical flute geometry. The manufacturer grade WMP35 designation places it squarely in high-performance territory for difficult-to-machine materials. Seat size E governs the matching drill body required for correct assembly.
This tip targets machining operations on superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, with steel and stainless steel as secondary applications. It fits the Walter P6003 series modular drill platform. Typical install environments include aerospace component shops, precision machining centers, and production environments running ISO material groups S, P, and M. The clamp-style insert holding method means no adhesives or brazing are involved in the seat connection.
Designed for use with Walter P6003 series modular drill bodies requiring an E insert seat. ISO number P6003-D20,62R WMP35 identifies the exact seat and geometry pairing. Verify seat size E compatibility with the host drill body before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with modular indexable tooling systems. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before handling or replacing the drill tip. Clean the seat thoroughly before seating the new tip - debris or chips on the seat face will cause runout and premature tip failure. Follow the tool manufacturer torque and clamping procedure for the specific P6003 body to ensure proper clamping force without over-torquing the clamp screw.
