The WALTER 5194852 is a solid carbide turning insert with a TiCN Plus PVD coating, designed for precision metal cutting in turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations. Carrying the ANSI code VCGT331 and ISO code VCGT160404-PM2 WXN10, this insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 25 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches), the insert length is 0.6540 inches (16.61 mm), and the corner radius is 1/64 inches (0.0157 inches). Manufactured under grade WXN10 in the Tiger-tec series, it is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is engineered primarily for non-ferrous metals, with secondary suitability for steel and stainless steel. The PM2 chip breaker is rated for roughing and medium machining operations. Its sharp cutting edge style and positive side clearance make it well suited for finish and semi-finish passes on aluminum, copper alloys, and similar non-ferrous workpieces, while also handling light-to-medium steel cuts. The screw-held mounting method suits standard VCGT-compatible toolholders. It ships in a package quantity of one and carries a minimum order quantity of one, making it accessible for maintenance stock or trial use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for VCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, VCGT331 (ANSI) or VCGT160404 (ISO) form-factor inserts. Compatible grades listed by manufacturer: M01, N10, P01. Meets ANSI and ISO standards for this insert geometry.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or insert key specified for the toolholder to avoid cracking the carbide substrate or stripping the clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert.
