The WALTER 5045269 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill engineered for precise 90-degree shoulder milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. Carrying the ISO designation F4042.T36.040.Z04.15, this cutter features a 40 mm cutting diameter and accepts four ADMT, ADGT, ADHT, or ADKT-series inserts secured by screw clamping. Maximum depth of cut is 15 mm (0.5906 inches), and the tool is rated to 10,000 RPM. The T36 modular connection shank integrates with compatible Walter modular tooling systems, keeping setup time low and runout minimal. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management during demanding cuts.
This end mill is suited for universal milling applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including cast iron, steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, as well as secondary applications in glass, graphite, and hard materials. Primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S are supported, with secondary codes H and O. It is installed in CNC machining centers and mill-turn platforms by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop environments where repeatable square-shoulder geometry is required.
This tool is compatible with the following insert part numbers as specified by the manufacturer: ADGT 1606PER-D51, ADGT 1606PER-D56, ADGT 1606PER-F56, ADHT 160616R-G88, ADHT 160625R-G88, ADHT 160630R-G88, ADHT 160640R-G88, ADHT 1606PER-G88, ADKT1606PER-F56, ADMT 160608R-D56, ADMT 160608R-F56, ADMT 160608R-G56, ADMT 160612R-F56, ADMT 160616R-F56. Requires a T36 modular connection interface on the toolholder or spindle adapter.
Installation and insert changes are performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the cutter body or changing inserts. Torque the insert-clamping screws using the appropriate Torx key as specified in the Walter tool assembly documentation for this cutter style. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and that the modular connection interface is clean and undamaged before assembly to maintain concentricity and safe operating speeds.
