The WAL-RICH 2880046 is a yellow polyethylene gas pipe rated to SDR-11 construction standards, designed for underground natural gas and propane distribution in residential and light commercial applications. At 1.5 inches IPS (Iron Pipe Size) diameter and supplied in a 500-foot coil, this pipe is a go-to choice for gas line installation crews who need a flexible, corrosion-resistant alternative to steel or black iron. The SDR-11 dimension ratio indicates a consistent wall thickness relative to outside diameter, providing reliable pressure performance suited to typical gas distribution service pressures. Yellow coloring is the industry-standard identifier for gas service piping.
This pipe is used in below-grade natural gas and LP gas distribution systems for residential homes, multi-family buildings, and light commercial structures. It is suited for direct burial without additional corrosion protection, making it a preferred material for new construction gas mains and service laterers. Licensed gas fitters and plumbers typically install this product when running supply lines from the meter or service entry point to appliances or building stub-outs. The 500-foot coil length reduces the number of joints needed on longer runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation option for underground gas distribution systems using 1.5-inch IPS polyethylene pipe connections and fittings.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with IFGC requirements and all applicable local codes. Shut off the gas supply at the meter or service valve before making any connections to an existing system. Use only fittings and fusion or mechanical joining methods rated for polyethylene gas pipe at the applicable service pressure. Do not use open flame or solvent-weld joining methods on polyethylene gas pipe.
