The VYBOND 557S2 is a UL181B-FX listed, cloth-backed duct tape engineered for code-compliant sealing of HVAC duct systems. Built on a PE-coated cloth backing with a rubber-based adhesive, it delivers approximately 50 oz/in of adhesion to steel and a total thickness of 10 mils. The silver tape comes in a 60-yard roll and operates across a temperature range of 40 degrees F to 200 degrees F. HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors reach for this tape where flex duct, rigid duct board, or duct liner connections require a listed, pressure-sensitive tape solution that meets current energy code requirements.
The 557S2 is intended for use in residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems where a UL181B-FX pressure-sensitive tape is specified. It is suited for sealing longitudinal seams and connections on flexible air ducts and duct board assemblies. The 2-inch width handles standard duct seam widths without trimming in most field applications. One roll is included per unit, making it straightforward to stock as a job-site consumable or van supply item.
Designed as a UL181B-FX listed pressure-sensitive replacement tape for sealing flexible air duct longitudinal seams and connections in residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems where a silver cloth-backed tape format is required.
HVAC technicians and sheet metal mechanics install this tape per SMACNA and local mechanical code requirements. Before applying, ensure the duct surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease for proper adhesive bond. Apply with firm, even hand pressure or a roller to eliminate air pockets and edge lifting. Do not use on supply or return air plenums that exceed the rated operating temperature of 200 degrees F.
