The VYBOND 3392 is a cold-weather aluminum foil tape listed to UL181 A and B-FX standards, designed for code-compliant sealing of HVAC duct systems. The tape features an acrylic adhesive formulated to bond reliably at low temperatures, with a total thickness of 3 mil and published adhesion of approximately 45 oz/in to steel. The operating temperature range spans from -40 degrees F to 300 degrees F, making it suitable for use in unconditioned spaces, attics, crawlspaces, and exterior chase applications where standard foil tapes may fail to adhere. Each roll is 2.5 inches wide and 60 yards long. HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors rely on this tape where cold ambient temperatures are a factor during installation or service.
This tape is applied to rigid fiberglass duct board, flexible duct assemblies, insulation seams, and vapor barrier joints in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The UL181 A and B-FX listing satisfies most building and mechanical code requirements for duct sealing without mastic, including applications on Class 1 flexible air connectors. It is particularly well suited for installations performed in winter months or in climate zones with extended cold seasons where adhesive performance is a documented concern.
Designed for use on UL181-listed rigid fiberglass duct board, Class 1 flexible air connectors, sheet metal duct joints, insulation lap seams, and vapor barrier overlaps in residential and light commercial HVAC ductwork applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor in accordance with local mechanical codes and SMACNA guidelines. Before applying, clean and dry all mating surfaces to remove dust, oil, and moisture, as contamination will reduce adhesion even with a cold-weather formula. Power down the air handling system before working on duct sections to prevent pressurization. Firm hand pressure or a seam roller should be used along the full tape length to ensure full contact and activate the adhesive bond.
