The VLIER SSSD61N is a standard threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty holding applications in mechanical assemblies. It features a 1/2-13 thread with a 1-1/4 inch thread length and a stainless steel body for corrosion resistance in demanding environments. The Delrin nose provides a low-friction contact surface that protects mating components from marking or galling. With an initial end force of 2.7 pounds and a final end force of 9.3 pounds, this plunger delivers controlled, repeatable spring force. A locking element is included to secure the plunger in the threaded bore once positioned. Machinists, toolmakers, and mechanical assemblers are the primary installers of this component.
This spring plunger is suited for use in fixtures, jigs, machine tool slides, and automated equipment where positive part location or detent action is required. It fits into a standard 1/2-13 threaded hole and is applicable in both light industrial and precision manufacturing environments. The stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for washdown areas or applications with exposure to moisture and mild chemicals where carbon steel hardware would corrode prematurely.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 1/2-13 threaded spring plunger applications in fixtures, jigs, and mechanical positioning assemblies.
Installation is performed by threading the plunger into a pre-tapped 1/2-13 hole using a hex key or spanner tool appropriate for the drive style. Disengage any spring-loaded mechanisms and de-energize or lock out the equipment before servicing components in automated assemblies. Once the desired plunger position is set, engage the locking element to prevent the plunger from backing out under vibration or repeated loading. Do not over-torque the body, as this can damage the locking element or distort the threaded bore.
