The VLIER SSPH50 is a threaded spring plunger designed for precise, repeatable positioning and indexing in mechanical assemblies. The plunger body and nose are machined from stainless steel, making this component suitable for corrosion-resistant applications. The 8-32 thread with a 5/8 inch thread length allows for straightforward installation into a tapped hole. An initial end force of 2.70 pounds and a final end force of 7.30 pounds provide controlled spring resistance for detent or alignment functions. This plunger is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and precision assembly technicians working in industrial, commercial, and OEM manufacturing environments.
The SSPH50 is used in fixtures, jigs, machine tools, and precision equipment where a repeatable spring-loaded detent or positioning stop is required. The standard plunger length type and 3/32 inch projection make it a common selection for close-tolerance assemblies where controlled nose travel and defined force values are critical to proper function. It is well suited for production environments where stainless steel construction is specified for cleanliness or corrosion resistance requirements.
Designed as a standard threaded spring plunger for use in tapped holes requiring an 8-32 thread, suitable for general industrial fixtures, jigs, and precision mechanical assemblies where a stainless steel detent or positioning plunger is specified.
Installation is performed by threading the SSPH50 into a properly tapped 8-32 hole using the appropriate hex tool sized to the 0.0630 inch hex. Verify the mating hole depth and thread engagement before final assembly to ensure correct plunger projection. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before installing or adjusting spring plungers in active machine assemblies. Avoid over-torquing, which can damage the stainless steel body or deform the thread engagement.
