The VLIER SSM52P is a stubby threaded spring plunger designed for precise positioning, indexing, and locking applications in restricted-space installations. Built with a stainless steel body and stainless steel nose, it threads into a 10-32 tapped hole with a thread length of 0.468 inches and delivers a plunger projection of 0.065 inches. The integrated locking element secures the plunger in place once installed, preventing loosening from vibration. With an initial end force of 1.75 pounds and a final end force of 6.25 pounds, this plunger is suited for high end force requirements in compact assemblies. Licensed machinists and mechanical technicians are the typical installers.
The SSM52P is intended for use in high end force, restricted-space applications where standard-length plungers cannot fit. Its stubby form factor makes it well suited for tight mechanical assemblies, fixtures, jigs, and precision equipment where consistent spring force and reliable indexing are required. The stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance in demanding environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit component for assemblies requiring a 10-32 threaded spring plunger in a stubby configuration with a locking element.
Installation requires threading the SSM52P into a properly tapped 10-32 hole using an appropriate hex key or driver. Ensure the mating tapped hole is clean and free of debris before installation. De-energize or lock out any powered equipment before servicing assemblies that contain spring plungers. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the locking element or compress the spring beyond its designed range.
