The VLIER M63 is a stubby-style threaded spring plunger designed for indexing, positioning, and light-duty detent applications in mechanical assemblies. It uses a spring-loaded steel nose to apply controlled end force against a mating surface, holding components in position without permanent fastening. The M63 features a 5/8-11 thread with a 1.062-inch thread length and a maximum plunger diameter of 0.31 inches. Initial end force is 2 pounds, rising to 8.5 pounds at full compression. The steel body and steel nose make it suitable for general industrial and machine-shop environments where moderate force retention is required.
This plunger is used in fixture plates, jigs, tooling bodies, machine slides, and similar mechanical assemblies where repeatable positioning or light detent resistance is needed. The stubby plunger length type suits applications with limited depth clearance. It installs directly into a threaded hole in the host component, making it a straightforward retrofit or OEM replacement in both new builds and field repairs. Suitable for light industrial, tooling, and precision mechanical applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation threaded spring plunger for mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and tooling that accept a 5/8-11 threaded spring plunger with a stubby plunger configuration.
Installation is performed by threading the M63 into a properly tapped 5/8-11 hole using a standard hex wrench or spanner. Ensure the mating thread is clean and free of debris before installation. No special tools are required, but thread engagement should be confirmed to the full 1.062-inch thread length for proper force performance. Disengage or de-energize any moving components in the assembly before servicing or replacing spring plungers.
