The VLIER M59N is a stubby threaded spring plunger designed for positioning, indexing, and locking applications where axial space is limited. The plunger uses a 3/8-16 thread with a body and thread length of 0.625 inches, making it a compact fit in tight assemblies. The steel body and steel nose deliver durability under repeated cycling. An integrated locking element keeps the plunger secured in the tapped hole once installed, preventing loosening from vibration or side loads. Initial end force is 1.5 pounds and final end force is 5 pounds, placing this unit in the high-end-force category for its size class. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical technicians as well as precision assembly professionals will encounter this type of hardware in equipment panels, jigs, and fixtures.
The M59N is suited for applications requiring high end force in restricted space, such as machine tool fixtures, equipment enclosures, cabinet indexing mechanisms, and precision assembly jigs. The stubby plunger length type allows installation in shallow bores or thin panels where a standard-length plunger body would not fit. The 0.186-inch maximum plunger diameter and 0.110-inch projection keep the footprint minimal while still providing positive tactile detent or locking engagement.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded spring plunger for use in any assembly accepting a 3/8-16 tapped hole and rated for high end force in restricted-space configurations.
Installation is performed by threading the M59N into a pre-tapped 3/8-16 hole using a hex key or appropriate drive tool; torque to the fixture manufacturer's specification for the application. Disengage or power down any moving machinery before installation or removal to prevent injury from spring-loaded ejection of the plunger. The locking element engages the thread walls on installation, so back-out requires deliberate torque. Inspect the tapped hole for clean threads before installation to ensure the locking element seats correctly.
