The VLIER DB60N is a threaded ball plunger designed for controlled end-force applications in mechanical assemblies. It features a 1/2-13 thread size, a 0.281-inch nylon ball diameter, and a 0.75-inch steel body length with a zinc-plated finish. The plunger delivers 6 pounds of initial end force and 12 pounds of final end force, making it suitable for indexing, positioning, and light detent work where repeatable, controlled resistance is required. A built-in locking element secures the plunger in position after installation. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and mechanical assemblers are the primary installers of this component.
This ball plunger is used in industrial and mechanical assembly environments where a spring-loaded detent or positioning stop is needed. The nylon ball minimizes surface marring on contact faces, which is useful in fixtures, jigs, and precision tooling where metal-on-metal contact is undesirable. The maximum ball reach of 0.072 inches limits the plunger to light-travel, low-clearance applications. It is identified by a purple color code for quick field identification among other VLIER plunger variants.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded ball plunger for controlled end-force applications in mechanical fixtures, jigs, tooling, and positioning assemblies requiring a 1/2-13 threaded bore.
Installation requires a tapped 1/2-13 hole in the mating component. Torque the body into the bore using a hex key or spanner appropriate to the body drive style, engaging the locking element to secure final position. Ensure the assembly is de-energized and any moving components are locked out before installing or adjusting ball plungers in live machinery. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque can damage the locking element or deform the nylon ball seat.
