The VLIER B52 is a threaded ball plunger designed for controlled end-force applications where space and weight are critical constraints. It uses a spring-loaded steel ball mechanism to deliver a repeatable, low-force detent action in compact assemblies. The 10-32 thread size allows installation in standard tapped holes across a wide range of fixtures and tooling. With an initial end force of 1.5 pounds and a final end force of 3 pounds, the B52 provides predictable, light-duty positioning force. The steel body and steel ball construction offer solid durability for general industrial use. This part is recognized as one of the smallest and lightest spring-loaded devices in its class.
The B52 is suited for light-duty indexing, positioning, and detent applications in mechanical assemblies, fixtures, gauges, and precision tooling. The controlled end-force design makes it appropriate for installations where consistent, repeatable ball engagement is required without excessive force. Its compact body length of 0.513 inches and 0.094-inch ball diameter allow placement in tight spaces where larger plungers cannot fit. Machinists, tool and die makers, and mechanical assemblers working on fixtures or instrumentation are the typical installers for this type of component.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit component for mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and tooling that accept a 10-32 threaded ball plunger with controlled end-force specifications.
Install into a properly tapped 10-32 hole using an appropriate hex key or driver; ensure threads are clean and free of debris before installation. Do not overtighten, as excessive torque can restrict ball movement or damage the spring mechanism. Confirm that the mating detent geometry matches the 0.094-inch ball diameter and 0.025-inch maximum ball reach before finalizing installation. Depressurize or de-energize any assembly under load before servicing or replacing the plunger.
