The VIEGA 79295 is a Zero Lead bronze ProPress adapter featuring Smart Connect technology, designed to transition between a 1/2 inch press connection and a 3/8 inch female NPT threaded fitting. This adapter is used in copper or press-compatible piping systems where a quick, flame-free mechanical press joint meets a threaded female port. Smart Connect technology includes a built-in indicator that allows the installer to verify whether a fitting has been properly pressed before the system is pressurized. Licensed plumbers install this fitting as part of residential and light commercial plumbing assemblies where code compliance and lead-free materials are required.
This adapter is suited for potable water plumbing applications where a press-style copper connection transitions to a female NPT threaded component such as a valve, fixture supply, or equipment port. The 1/2 inch press end accepts standard copper tubing, while the 3/8 inch FNPT end threads onto compatible male-threaded fittings. Its Zero Lead bronze construction meets lead-free requirements for use in drinking water systems under applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as an OEM-style ProPress fitting for use in residential and light commercial plumbing systems with press-compatible copper tubing at the 1/2 inch press end and a 3/8 inch male NPT threaded counterpart at the female threaded end.
Installation of the press end requires a VIEGA-compatible press tool with the correct jaw or ring set for the fitting size. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. The Smart Connect indicator should be checked after pressing to confirm a complete joint. This fitting must be installed by a licensed plumber in jurisdictions where plumbing codes require it, and all work should comply with applicable local plumbing codes including IPC or UPC requirements.
