The VIEGA 79190 is a 90-degree drop-ear elbow designed for use in press-fit copper piping systems. Manufactured from bronze, this fitting connects a press-style pipe end to a female NPT threaded outlet while providing a mounting ear for securing the fitting to a structural surface. The drop-ear configuration is commonly used where a supply stub-out needs to be anchored at a wall, floor, or framing member. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of residential and light commercial water distribution work where tool-based press connections are specified.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where 1/2-inch copper press systems terminate at a threaded connection point. Typical installations include shower valves, faucet supply stubs, and other wall-mounted fixture outlets where the ear allows the fitting to be screwed to framing before the fixture is installed. The press end accepts standard press-fit tooling, and the FNPT outlet accepts standard threaded male adapters or valve bodies.
Designed as an OEM-style press-fit drop-ear elbow for use in 1/2-inch nominal copper press piping systems with female NPT threaded outlets.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making any connections. The press end requires a calibrated press tool with the correct jaw profile for 1/2-inch copper press fittings. Secure the mounting ear to solid framing or blocking before completing the press connection to prevent movement at the stub-out.
