The VIEGA 77028 is a 45-degree press elbow designed for copper pipe systems with a 1-inch nominal size and press end style connections. This fitting allows direction changes in pressurized piping runs without soldering or open flame, making it well suited for tight spaces and time-sensitive installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting using a compatible press tool and jaw set. The press connection creates a secure, leak-tested joint in seconds, eliminating flux, torch work, and the associated fire permits that soldered joints typically require.
This elbow is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems where copper distribution piping requires a 45-degree change in direction. Typical applications include domestic hot and cold water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution, and other closed-loop piping systems that use 1-inch copper tube. It is an import product and is appropriate for new construction as well as retrofit work where soldering is restricted or impractical.
Designed as an OEM-style press fitting for use with 1-inch nominal copper tube in standard plumbing and hydronic piping systems. A compatible press tool and correctly sized jaw or ring set are required to make the connection.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber using a press tool rated for copper press fittings and the appropriate 1-inch jaw or ring set. Shut off the water supply and depressurize and drain the line before cutting and fitting the pipe. Ensure the pipe end is clean, deburred, and fully inserted to the pipe stop inside the fitting before pressing. Work must comply with applicable local plumbing codes, which may reference the IPC or IAPMO standards for press-connect fittings.
