The VIEGA 49280 is a 90-degree elbow fitting designed for PEX press connection systems in residential and light commercial plumbing installations. Part of the PureFlow V5616 series, this fitting is constructed from polymer and accepts 1-1/2 inch PEX tubing on both ends. It is joined using a PEX press tool, eliminating the need for open flame or solvent cement. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting when routing PEX supply lines around obstacles or changing direction within a piping run. The press connection method provides a reliable, leak-tested joint suited for potable water distribution systems.
This fitting is used in PEX-based domestic water supply systems where a 90-degree direction change is required. Typical applications include residential new construction, remodel plumbing, and retrofit work where copper or CPVC is being replaced with PEX. The polymer body resists corrosion and scale buildup, making it appropriate for both hot and cold water supply lines. It is well suited for in-wall, in-ceiling, or mechanical room installations where a low-profile, flame-free connection is preferred.
Designed as an OEM-style press fitting for use with 1-1/2 inch PEX tubing in PEX press plumbing systems. Compatible press tools and rings required for proper installation must be verified against the PureFlow V5616 series specifications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local codes and the International Plumbing Code. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before cutting into any existing line. A manufacturer-approved PEX press tool and the correct-size press ring or sleeve are required to achieve a proper joint. Do not attempt to press a fitting that has not been fully seated on the tubing.
