The VIEGA 39117 is a 1-1/4 inch IPS GeoFusion tee fitting designed for socket fusion connections in ground-source heat-exchange piping systems. Manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), this fitting handles the demands of both open-loop and closed-loop geothermal installations as well as hydronic distribution systems. The 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch configuration suits standard branch tee applications and meets NSF 358-1 and ASTM D2683 standards. Licensed plumbers and geothermal loop installers use this fitting where durable, leak-resistant fusion joints are required in buried or mechanical-room piping runs.
This fitting is intended for ground-source heat-exchange applications including residential and light-commercial geothermal loop fields and hydronic distribution piping. It is suited for both open-loop and closed-loop system configurations where IPS-sized HDPE piping is specified. Socket fusion jointing makes it appropriate for new installation and retrofit work where consistent, pressure-rated joints are required throughout the piping network.
Designed for use with 1-1/4 inch IPS-dimensioned HDPE pipe in open-loop and closed-loop geothermal heat-exchange systems and hydronic distribution piping applications.
Socket fusion fittings require a properly calibrated socket fusion tool set to manufacturer-specified heating times and temperatures for the pipe diameter being joined. Installers should follow ASTM and pipe manufacturer fusion procedures and allow completed joints to cool fully before pressurizing the system. Shut down system pressure and relieve any residual pressure before cutting into an existing loop. Geothermal loop installation work is typically performed by licensed plumbers or certified geothermal loop contractors in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes.
