The VIEGA 20203 is a spring check valve designed for use in hydronic radiant heating systems and general plumbing applications. It prevents backflow by using an internal spring mechanism that holds the valve closed until forward flow pressure overcomes the spring tension. The body is constructed from bronze, providing corrosion resistance in wet piping systems. Rated to 200 psi and suitable for fluid temperatures ranging from 36 degrees F to 250 degrees F, the 20203 is built to handle the demands of closed-loop heating circuits. Connections are female NPT (FNPT) at a nominal 1 inch size. Licensed plumbers and hydronic heating technicians are the primary installers for this component.
This spring check valve is used in residential and light commercial hydronic radiant heating systems, including in-floor radiant loops, baseboard hot water circuits, and domestic water supply lines where backflow prevention is required. The FNPT end style allows direct threaded connection to standard NPT pipe and fittings. Its 36 to 250 degrees F temperature range makes it suitable for both chilled water and hot water heating applications within those bounds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation check valve for 1 inch FNPT threaded hydronic radiant heating and plumbing piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or hydronic heating technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the system before installing or replacing this valve. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape on all NPT connections to ensure a leak-free joint. Verify flow direction during installation, as spring check valves are directional and must be oriented correctly to function.
