The VIEGA 11418 is a barrier PEX-B radiant tubing designed for use in hydronic heating systems. Supplied in a 1200-foot coil with a 3/8-inch outer diameter, this black tubing with stripe is manufactured from cross-linked polyethylene (PEX-B) and includes an oxygen barrier layer. The barrier construction inhibits oxygen diffusion into the system, which helps protect ferrous components such as boiler heat exchangers, circulators, and manifold assemblies from corrosion over time. Licensed plumbers and hydronic heating technicians are the primary installers of this product.
This tubing is intended for residential and light commercial radiant floor heating applications. It is routed through or beneath flooring assemblies — including staple-up, thin-slab, and below-subfloor configurations — and connected to manifold distribution systems. The 3/8-inch diameter is well-suited for shorter loop runs where lower flow resistance is acceptable and finer zoning control is desired. The 1200-foot coil length reduces the number of splices needed on larger installations, making it practical for multi-loop radiant layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation radiant tubing for residential and light commercial hydronic heating systems that require barrier PEX-B tubing in 3/8-inch diameter.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or hydronic heating technician in accordance with local mechanical and plumbing codes. Shut down and depressurize the hydronic system before making any connections to existing piping. Use only fittings and tools rated and listed for PEX-B tubing to ensure leak-free joints. Avoid kinking the tubing during layout; use a pipe bending support or coil unroller to maintain minimum bend radius throughout the installation.
