The VERMONT GAGE 361134040 is a single-ring No Go threaded ring gage used to verify that an external thread does not exceed the maximum material condition for its tolerance class. Manufactured from tool steel, this gage is designed to reject out-of-tolerance parts when the ring engages the thread — a No Go gage should not pass over a conforming thread. It is calibrated to NIST standards and classified to ANSI Class 3A, the tightest fit class in the inch unified thread series. Machinists, quality technicians, and tool-room inspectors use this gage as part of a go/no-go inspection routine on threaded fasteners and tapped components.
This gage is suited for incoming inspection, in-process quality control, and final inspection of externally threaded parts with a 3/8-24 UNF thread form. UNF (Unified National Fine) threads are common in precision fastening applications across aerospace, automotive, hydraulic fittings, and instrumentation. The Class 3A designation applies to close-tolerance external threads where minimal clearance and high accuracy are required. This is a single-ring gage, meaning it covers one functional condition — No Go — and is typically used alongside a matching Go ring gage to complete the full thread inspection.
Designed for inspection of external threads conforming to the 3/8-24 UNF Class 3A thread standard per ANSI/ASME B1.2 unified inch screw thread specifications.
Threaded ring gages are handled and used by quality control technicians and machinists — not installed in a system. Before use, clean both the gage and the part thread of chips, oil, and debris to prevent false readings. Do not force the No Go gage; if resistance is felt, the part thread is within tolerance and the gage should not pass. Store ring gages in a controlled environment away from temperature extremes and moisture to preserve calibration integrity.
