The VERMONT GAGE 112402970 is a Class ZZ Minus plug pin gage machined to a 2.97 mm diameter with a tolerance of 0.00508 mm. It is used to verify that a bore or hole does not exceed its maximum allowable dimension, making it a NoGo gage in a go/no-go inspection pair. The gage is manufactured from steel and features a 10 microfinish surface coating for consistent contact and repeatable readings. Each unit ships with a Certificate of Accuracy backed by NIST traceability, confirming it meets Class ZZ dimensional standards. Machinists, quality control technicians, and tool and die professionals use this gage in production inspection workflows.
This plug pin gage is suited for incoming inspection, in-process quality checks, and final inspection of precision bored holes and drilled features. It works alongside micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices to confirm hole size conformance. The 2-inch overall length provides adequate handling clearance for benchtop and floor-level inspection stations. It is appropriate for both job shop and production floor environments where Class ZZ minus tolerance verification is required for small-diameter features.
Designed for use in NoGo inspection applications and compatible with standard plug gage handles and holding fixtures. Intended for use alongside micrometers, verniers, and other precision measuring devices requiring a 2.97 mm NoGo reference.
Plug pin gages should be handled with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves to prevent corrosion from skin oils. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to avoid surface damage that could affect dimensional accuracy. Allow the gage and workpiece to reach the same ambient temperature before use to eliminate thermal expansion error. Periodic recalibration against a NIST-traceable reference standard is recommended to maintain measurement integrity.
