The VERMONT GAGE 111158500 is a Class ZZ Plus plug gage designed for precise go-inspection of bored, drilled, and reamed holes at a 0.585 inch nominal diameter. Manufactured from tool steel with a 10 microinch surface finish, this gage holds a tolerance of 0.0002 inches, making it suitable for verifying workpiece hole dimensions against tight engineering specifications. Each unit ships with a Certificate of Accuracy with NIST traceability, supporting quality documentation requirements in production and inspection environments. Licensed metrology technicians, machinists, and quality control inspectors rely on plug gages of this class when hard go/no-go acceptance criteria must be documented.
This plug gage is used in machine shops, manufacturing cells, and quality labs where hole diameter conformance must be verified before assembly or downstream operations. It is appropriate for go inspection applications and can also be used to calibrate and verify the accuracy of set micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices. With an overall length of 2.0 inches, the 111158500 fits standard gage handle holders and is well suited for bench and in-process inspection tasks in both high-volume and low-volume production settings.
Designed for use as a go inspection plug gage and for setting and verifying set micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices requiring a 0.585 inch reference diameter.
Plug gages are handled and used by machinists, metrologists, and quality control technicians following ASME B89.1 inspection practices. Before use, clean both the gage and the workpiece bore to remove chips, coolant, and debris that can introduce measurement error or accelerate gage wear. Apply a light film of gage oil when appropriate to protect the tool steel surface. Never force the gage through a bore; if resistance is encountered, stop and evaluate the workpiece before proceeding.
