The VERMONT GAGE 111149700 is a Class ZZ Plus plug gage machined from tool steel to a diameter of 0.497 inches with a tolerance of 0.0002 inches. It is designed for go inspection of bored holes, reamed features, and other precision-dimensioned openings where dimensional conformance must be verified quickly and reliably. The working surface carries a 10 microfinish, reducing wear on the gage and the part being checked. Each unit ships with a Certificate of Accuracy traceable to NIST, meeting the documentation requirements of most quality management systems. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and quality control inspectors are the primary users of this gage.
This plug gage is suited for use in job shops, production environments, and inspection departments that require a fast, repeatable method for verifying hole size conformance. Typical applications include checking pilot holes, hydraulic fitting bores, and precision-machined housings. Beyond go inspection of holes, the gage also serves as a reference standard for setting micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices to a known diameter. Its compact 2.0-inch overall length makes it easy to handle in confined setups.
Designed for go inspection of 0.497-inch nominal diameter holes and bores, and for use as a reference setting standard with micrometers, verniers, and other precision measuring devices as specified in the product application data.
Plug gages are handled and deployed by machinists, toolroom personnel, and quality inspectors rather than installed in a mechanical system. Before use, ensure the gage and the workpiece bore are clean and free of chips, coolant, or debris that could affect the measurement or damage the gage surface. Apply only light axial pressure when inserting the gage into the bore; forcing the gage can cause galling and will produce inaccurate readings. Store the gage in its protective case and calibrate or re-certify it on a schedule consistent with your quality system requirements and ASME B89.1 guidelines.
