The VERMONT GAGE 111127800 is a Class ZZ Plus plug gage machined from tool steel for dimensional go inspection of bored, drilled, and reamed holes. The gage measures a nominal diameter of 0.278 inches with a tolerance of 0.0002 inches, making it suitable for precise acceptance inspection in production and quality control environments. A surface finish of 10 microfinish reduces wear on the gage member and the workpiece bore. Each unit ships with a Certificate of Accuracy that carries full NIST traceability, meeting the documentation requirements of ISO and AS9100 quality systems. Dimensional inspection technicians, machinists, and quality engineers use this gage at incoming, in-process, and final inspection stations.
This plug gage is applied wherever a 0.278-inch diameter feature must be verified for minimum material condition on the go pass. Typical applications include verifying bore size on machined components before assembly, calibrating or cross-checking set micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices, and confirming hole location acceptance in low- to medium-volume production runs. The Class ZZ Plus tolerance class is suited to inspection-grade work where gage accuracy must remain well within the part tolerance band. Licensed machinists and quality inspection personnel are the primary end users in job shop, aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing settings.
Designed for go inspection use with standard cylindrical bores and as a reference standard for setting micrometers, verniers, and other measuring devices requiring a 0.278-inch diameter reference.
Plug gages are handled and applied by inspection technicians and machinists; no power source or lockout procedure is required. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to prevent nicks or corrosion that would affect measurement accuracy. Apply a light coat of instrument-grade oil before storage to protect the tool steel member. Do not force the gage into a bore; if resistance is felt on the go pass, remove the gage and assess the workpiece rather than applying additional force.
