The VERACITY VOR-OB5 is a Power over Ethernet (PoE) splitter with network passthrough capability, designed for use in structured cabling and IP surveillance installations. It accepts a single PoE-enabled network connection and splits power and data, allowing a non-PoE device to receive DC power while maintaining an active network data path. This type of device is commonly installed by low-voltage technicians and network integrators working on IP camera systems, access control infrastructure, or other networked equipment that requires localized power distribution without a dedicated power supply at the device location.
The VOR-OB5 is suited for commercial and residential IP network installations where a PoE switch or injector is already in place upstream. The network passthrough function preserves the data connection to downstream devices, making it a practical solution in daisy-chain or distributed network layouts. Installation is straightforward and does not require specialized tools beyond standard low-voltage hand tools and a properly configured PoE source.
Designed as an OEM-style PoE splitter for use with standard 802.3af or 802.3at PoE-capable network switches and injectors in low-voltage network installations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified low-voltage or network technician familiar with PoE standards and structured cabling practices. Power down or disable the PoE port on the upstream switch before connecting or disconnecting the splitter. Verify that the PoE power budget of the upstream switch or injector is sufficient to support the connected load. Follow applicable local codes and TIA/EIA structured cabling standards during installation.
