The VARGUS 51213 is a solid carbide laydown threading insert engineered for external NPT thread cutting at 11.5 threads per inch (TPI). It carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch (9.53 mm) inscribed circle, and a thickness of approximately 0.142 inches (3.60 mm). Designed for right-hand external threading, this insert fits the 3ER toolholder style and is suited for lathe-based threading operations performed by machinists and CNC turning specialists.

The 51213 is intended for producing NPT taper pipe threads conforming to USAS B2.1:1968.
