The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH70429 is a Dash 429 Buna-N (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) O-ring with a round cross section, designed for static and dynamic sealing applications across plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-handling systems. It measures 5 inches inside diameter, 5.5 inches outside diameter, and 0.25 inches thick. The 70 durometer hardness rating delivers a firm, reliable seal under compression. Buna-N is the most widely used O-ring elastomer in trade applications, offering strong resistance to petroleum-based fluids, good tear and abrasion resistance, and consistent compression set performance. Licensed tradespeople and maintenance technicians working with fuel systems, hydraulic circuits, and general industrial equipment routinely specify this compound.
This O-ring is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, HVAC equipment, pool and irrigation systems, and industrial fluid-transfer assemblies where petroleum-based media is present. Its temperature range of -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F makes it appropriate for a broad range of service environments. Sold in packages of 5, it is well-matched for service calls requiring on-hand replacement inventory. It should not be stored in direct sunlight or near motors and other electrical equipment that may generate ozone, as ozone exposure degrades Buna-N compound over time.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement Dash 429 O-ring for any application requiring a 5-inch ID, 5.5-inch OD, 0.25-inch thick round cross section seal in a Buna-N compound compatible with petroleum products.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, HVAC technician, or maintenance professional following applicable codes such as IPC or IFGC where relevant. Always depressurize and de-energize the system and drain any residual fluid before removing the old O-ring. Lightly lubricate the new O-ring with a compatible petroleum-based or system-appropriate grease before seating it in the groove to prevent rolling or pinching during assembly. Inspect the seating groove for nicks or scoring before installation, as surface defects will compromise the seal.
