The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH70278 is a Dash 278 O-ring manufactured from Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (Buna-N), the most widely used elastomer in fluid sealing applications. It measures 12 inches inside diameter, 12.25 inches outside diameter, and 0.125 inches thick with a round cross-section profile. Rated at Shore 70 hardness, this O-ring delivers firm compression set resistance alongside solid tear and abrasion resistance. It is suited for hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid system assemblies where petroleum-based media are present. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working on large-bore sealing applications are the typical installers.
This O-ring is designed for use in applications involving petroleum products, oils, fuels, and hydraulic fluids. Its temperature range of -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F makes it a practical choice for both outdoor and mechanical room installations. The large 12-inch bore size suits industrial valves, pumps, flanges, and large-diameter pipe fittings commonly found in commercial plumbing, HVAC chiller systems, and industrial fluid handling equipment. Each package contains 5 O-rings. It carries SAE and MIL-Spec standards recognition. Note that this part is not FDA approved and should not be used in potable water or food-contact applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service O-ring for large-bore valves, pumps, flanges, and fluid system components requiring a Dash 278 O-ring with a 12-inch inside diameter and 0.125-inch cross-section. Compatible with petroleum-based media. Not compatible with ozone-generating environments or direct sunlight storage. Not FDA approved; not suitable for potable water or food-grade contact applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber, pipefitter, or mechanical technician following applicable IPC and ASME sealing standards. Shut down and depressurize the system fully before removing the old O-ring or installing the new one. Inspect the groove for burrs, corrosion, or debris before seating the new ring. Do not store unused O-rings near motors, electrical equipment, or in direct sunlight, as ozone and UV exposure degrade Buna-N material over time.
