The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH70229 is a Dash 229 O-ring made from Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (Buna-N), the most widely used elastomer in fluid sealing applications. It measures 2.375 inches inside diameter, 2.625 inches outside diameter, and 0.125 inches thick, with a round cross-section and a Shore A hardness of 70. Buna-N compound delivers excellent resistance to petroleum-based fluids, strong compression set recovery, and solid tear and abrasion resistance. This O-ring is installed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, hydraulic system mechanics, and industrial maintenance professionals wherever a reliable static or dynamic petroleum-fluid seal is required.
This O-ring is suited for use in hydraulic and pneumatic fittings, pump housings, valve bodies, and fluid line connections that handle petroleum products, oils, and fuels. It performs across a temperature range of -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F, making it appropriate for both outdoor and heated-system environments. Sold in packages of 50, it is commonly stocked by shops running recurring preventive maintenance on compressors, pumps, and plumbing assemblies that use standard AN or SAE dash-size O-ring grooves.
Designed to fit standard Dash 229 O-ring grooves per SAE and MIL-Spec dimensional standards. Compatible with petroleum-based fluids, oils, and fuels. Not recommended for use with ozone, sunlight exposure, or applications near motors or other electrical equipment that may generate ozone.
Power down or depressurize the system fully before replacing O-rings in any hydraulic, pneumatic, or plumbing assembly. Lightly lubricate the O-ring with a compatible petroleum-based or assembly lubricant before seating to prevent tearing during installation. Avoid rolling or twisting the O-ring into the groove; seat it evenly around the full circumference. Inspect the groove for burrs or corrosion before installation to avoid premature seal failure.
