The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH70043 is a Dash 043 Buna-N (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) o-ring with a 3.5-inch inside diameter, 3.625-inch outside diameter, and a 0.0625-inch (1/16 inch) round cross section. Rated at 70 Shore A hardness, this o-ring seals against petroleum-based fluids, hydraulic oils, fuels, and lubricants in a wide range of static and dynamic sealing applications. The operating temperature range runs from -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F, making it suitable for demanding service environments. Plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and industrial maintenance mechanics regularly specify Buna-N compounds for general-purpose fluid sealing. Sold in a pack of 50 units, each o-ring weighs approximately 0.02 pounds.
This o-ring is appropriate for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial plumbing, HVAC, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems where contact with petroleum products is expected. The Dash 043 designation conforms to standard AS568 sizing and is recognized under SAE and MIL-Spec standards. Common install scenarios include pump housings, valve stems, fittings, manifolds, and pipe unions requiring a reliable face or radial seal. The black Buna-N compound is the most widely used o-ring elastomer in trade work due to its balance of chemical resistance, compression set recovery, and tear and abrasion resistance.
Designed as a standard AS568 Dash 043 replacement o-ring compatible with petroleum-based fluid systems including hydraulic, fuel, and lubricating oil circuits. Not recommended for use with ozone, strong acids, ketones, esters, or chlorinated solvents.
Isolate and depressurize the system and shut off all fluid supply before replacing any o-ring seal. Inspect the groove and mating surfaces for nicks, burrs, or corrosion before seating the new o-ring. Apply a compatible fluid or petroleum-based lubricant to the o-ring during installation to reduce the risk of damage during assembly. Work follows applicable sections of the IPC or IFGC depending on system type; consult local codes for pressure-rated assemblies.
