The VALUE COLLECTION ZMSCH2.4X8.6 is a large-diameter Buna-N (nitrile butadiene rubber) O-ring designed for static and dynamic sealing applications in fluid and pneumatic systems. With an 8.6-inch inside diameter, 13.4-inch outside diameter, and 2.4-inch cross-section thickness, this ring seats into wide-bore grooves and flanged connections where a reliable, compression-set-resistant seal is required. Rated for service from -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F, it holds up across a broad thermal range. The 70 durometer hardness and round cross-section profile make it straightforward to seat and inspect. Plumbers, pipefitters, industrial maintenance techs, and HVAC mechanics working on large-bore assemblies are the primary installers.
This O-ring is suited for use with petroleum-based fluids, hydraulic oils, fuels, and lubricants — the primary compatibility strength of Buna-N elastomers. Typical applications include large pump housings, hydraulic cylinder end caps, industrial valve bonnets, and flanged piping assemblies in commercial HVAC, plumbing, and light industrial environments. The black Buna-N compound is the most widely used O-ring elastomer in trade applications for exactly this kind of broad fluid compatibility. It is not suited for exposure to ozone, direct sunlight, or environments with ozone-generating electrical equipment during storage or service.
Compatible with petroleum products, hydraulic oils, fuels, and lubricants. Not recommended for use with ozone, strong acids, ketones, or esters. Designed as a standard replacement O-ring for large-bore industrial, plumbing, and HVAC sealing applications wherever Buna-N elastomers are specified.
Installation is typically performed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, or industrial maintenance technicians. Depressurize and fully drain the system before removing the old O-ring or installing a new one. Lightly lubricate the O-ring with a compatible fluid or grease during installation to prevent tearing during seating — do not use petroleum-incompatible lubricants. Inspect the groove for nicks, burrs, or corrosion before seating the ring to ensure a proper seal.
