The VALUE COLLECTION XNB06045 is a black steel pipe nipple rated Schedule 80, designed for threaded pipe assemblies in plumbing, HVAC, and industrial piping systems. It measures 1 inch in nominal pipe size and 4.5 inches in length, with a 1-inch outside diameter and 1-inch NPT threads on both ends conforming to ANSI B1.20.1 and ASME B1.20.1. Constructed from seamless or welded steel meeting ASTM A106 and ASTM A53 standards, this nipple delivers the wall thickness required for higher-pressure applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install these fittings when connecting threaded pipe runs or transitioning between components in black iron gas, water, and steam systems.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial installations where Schedule 80 wall thickness is specified. Common applications include natural gas and propane distribution lines, steam supply and return piping, hydronic heating systems, and general industrial fluid transfer. Its black finish is standard for gas service piping and is compatible with black iron fittings, valves, and couplings throughout a threaded system. The lead-free construction meets requirements for potable water applications where local codes permit black steel pipe.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch NPT threaded pipe systems using Schedule 80 black steel components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Plumbing Code, and IFGC requirements for gas piping. Shut off the gas or water supply and depressurize the line completely before removing any existing fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service medium before threading the nipple into fittings, and tighten to snug engagement using pipe wrenches without over-torquing the joint. Inspect all connections for leaks before returning the system to service.
