The VALUE COLLECTION XNB04120 is a Schedule 80 black steel pipe nipple used to create threaded connections in piping systems handling gas, steam, water, and other fluids. Measuring 1/2 inch in diameter and 12 inches in length, this nipple is manufactured to ASTM A106 and ASTM A53 standards using seamless or welded construction. The black finish coating is standard for gas and steam service applications. Threaded ends conform to ANSI B1.20.1 and ASME B1.20.1 for consistent fit with standard NPT fittings. Weighing 1.06 pounds, it is suited for both residential and light commercial installations where a heavier-wall Schedule 80 nipple is specified over standard Schedule 40.
This pipe nipple is commonly installed in natural gas distribution lines, steam piping, compressed air systems, and hydronic heating loops. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters use Schedule 80 nipples in applications where added wall thickness is required for higher-pressure service or mechanical strength. The 12-inch length makes it well suited for branch connections, risers, and equipment drops where a close or hex nipple would be too short. It is compatible with standard 1/2-inch NPT fittings and valves across residential and commercial piping assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component compatible with standard 1/2-inch NPT threaded fittings, valves, and couplings used in gas, steam, water, and compressed air piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as appropriate to the service. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into or threading onto any existing line. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the intended service medium to all NPT threads before assembly. Do not use pipe wrenches on the pipe body itself; grip the hex or fitting body to avoid deforming the pipe wall.
